What I'm about to say will tick off about 70% of Hunger Games fandom judging by recent polls in People, Entertainment Weekly, E! and right here on MTV Act. But I'm feeling empowered to let it out, so here goes: I'm Team Gale. There. I said it. I was never a big fan of District 12's baker boywonder (boooooooring) in the books and I definitely wasn't stoked about Josh Hutcherson playing the big-hearted blondie. In short, I was a Hutch hater.
But you know what's ironic? I was totally inspired to spill my HG guts just now after watching jaw-line Josh's absolutely #adorbs acceptance speech for his Vanguard Award at the GLAAD Media Awards this past weekend. Shooooot, I might even be a friggin' convert after this heart-warming equality gush!
+ WATCH: Josh Hutcherson gets recognized at the 23rd Annual GLAAD Media Awards.
"This goes to anyone who's ever had a struggle in life being yourself. I think that the most beautiful thing a human being can do is just be who you are inside."
Preach it, Peeta! And yo, is it just me or is that boy straight beaming with pride (pun intended)?! He should be since Josh is the youngest recipient EVER of the prestigious honor given to a celeb who's taken extraordinary action for the LGBT community. The Boy With The Bread truly showed off an exceptionally warm-and-toasty interior -- it's easy to see how much he genuinely cares about his work with Straight But Not Narrow, the anti-bullying initiative started by some of his BFFs that encourages straight youth to accept and celebrate their LGBT peers.
As the dapper actor explains, a passion for love and tolerance runs deep in his family, "My mom was raised by a big family, and two people in that family were her uncles, Steve and Jamie. They were both gay ... and also both happened to pass away from AIDS right as I was being born. Being honored with this award goes to them 100%."
Doesn't he just make ya wanna send a parachute of high-tech love salve to the whole world?! For serious, I may still be Team Gale from a literary/fantasy perspective (hunters are hawt, deal with it), but I am totally TEAM HUTCH in real life. So throw up a three-finger salute and take Action with Josh below!
