Even though he starred in "Harry Potter," Tom Felton knows that life isn't magical for everyone. That's why he, Emily Blunt and many other celebs have joined previous supporters Katy Perry and Norah Jones in support of the END7 campaign.
It is the campaign's goal to eliminate the seven most common neglected tropical diseases (NTDs), which infect more than 1 billion people worldwide, by 2020. Your 8th grade sex ed videos ain't got nothin' on Tom Felton and Emily Blunt's new video for the campaign...
The seven most common NTDs are hookwork, roundworm, whipworm, snail fever, elephantitis, and river blindness. As severe as they are, it only costs approximately 50 cents to treat one person against these diseases for an entire year!
"Until recently, I didn't even know these diseases existed," said actress Emily Blunt. "But I was inspired to join the END7 campaign because, for once, the solution is simple and available now. And the cost for treatment is so low that almost anyone can make a big difference by giving just a few cents." In America, 50 cents won't get you much more than a stick of gum at a gas station, but in other parts of the world, two quarters could mean the difference between life and death.
Tom Felton also stresses the importance of telling your friends about END7. "Through Facebook, YouTube and Twitter, young people can donate and share the campaign," he says. "A simple social media post can make a big impact." It's time we take a break from our usual song lyric statuses and coffee cup Instagrams to make a difference!
