12.12.12 is more than just the coolest numerical date of the year. It's the date of the Madison Square Garden Concert For Sandy Relief, featuring performances by Alicia Keys, The Who, Paul McCartney, Bon Jovi, Kanye West, and more! The aim of the concert is to raise money to rebuild the homes and lives of those most affected by Hurricane Sandy.
According to forecasting firm Eqecat, Sandy caused between $30 billion and $50 billion in economic loss -- including property damage and lost business. As hurricane victims attempt to rebuild their lives and businesses, many celebs and regular folk alike have offered a helping hand. Proceeds from The Concert For Sandy Relief will go to The Robin Hood Relief Fund, which is giving money, supplies, and advice to people in areas hardest hit by the storm.
More info about ticket sales and pricing will be released in the coming days. Like the concert's Facebook page for updates, and spread the word by Tweeting #121212CONCERT! In anticipation of the big event, enjoy our music video playlist featuring participating artists' songs we hope they play:
