A few years ago, Scott Harrison was a nightclub promoter living the good life in New York City. He was literally the guy "popping bottles in the ice." And yeah, I just quoted Far East Movement.

After a life-changing trip to Africa, however, he came home determined to embrace a life of charity. On the night of his 31^st birthday, he raised $15,000 for water projects in Uganda and the idea for charity: water was born.

As charity: water is quick to point out, there are 800 million people on the planet without access to clean water. That's pretty hard to imagine, right? For most of us in the United States, we've been lucky enough to only be steps away from clean drinking water; we don't even have to walk outside.

This year, charity: water is hoping to build "100 wells for the holidays," with every dollar donated directly funding a water project in Ethiopia. So far, nine wells have been funded by more than 400 campaigns.  To break that down, $10,000 funds a well and $20 gives one person access to clean water.

So how can those of us who have never really been thirsty help bring water to those 800 million people?

Juliana organized a water balloon right and raised $350. Fiercely bearded Cubby is holding a "save it or shave it" campaign and has raised $3,578 so far. If you're feeling more adventurous, you could take a page out of Sarah's book: she completed a birthday swim – naked – and raised $32,398.

These are just a few of the campaigns featured in charity: water's new "100 wells for the holidays" video, but one thing is clear: anyone can help fund water projects around the world. You can watch the vid below.

Who knew it could be so fun to build a well. So how are you gonna fundraise? Maybe you could have your donors pick your next hair color or create a rap song and every time someone donates you add a new lyric to the song? Keep us posted on what you do.
