Keri Hilson wants to make a difference! We all remember when she got involved with AIDS Walk New York for the MTV Staying Alive Foundation team, and now Keri has Tweeted about her latest do-gooder act.

Keri Tweeted:

I went to the Juvenile Justice Center here in Atlanta & surprised young teen girls. I really enjoyed inspiring them.

It isn't easy growing up, as we all know, and it can help to have mentors like Keri when you're feeling down and out. It's easy to think of juvenile justice centers as places where "bad kids go." It's different to go to one of these places, get to know the people there, understand their situations and feelings, and help guide them to a better future.

The Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention says that, "The juvenile arrest rate for all offenses reached its highest level in the last two decades in 1996, and then declined 36% by 2009." We want to see that number keep going down. The OJJDP says, "Mentoring is an effective way to prevent at-risk youth from becoming involved in delinquency and also to help already delinquent youth change their lives for the better." Way to go being a mentor, Keri!
