Bimonthly, we'll take an artist on the rise on the MTV Music Meter and, to help you discover them a little more, detail some of their philanthropic tendencies -- from Mika to Ellie Goulding. This week: Lykke Li!
I've finally figured it out! Swedish singer-songwriter Lykke Li is like the Beyonce of the hipster world. The fierce face, the outfits, the dance moves -- it all makes sense to me now. And as Lykke climbs the MTV Music Meter, she also Tweets a lot of pretty awesome stuff. Here are some of her best Twitter moments:

She cares about her followers' health! Granted, the above link leads to a photo of her with a cigarette in her mouth, but hey, "Do as I say, not as I do," right? According to the Center for Disease Control, smokers die an average of 13-14 years earlier than non-smokers!
+ "Home is where your mom is!"

Much like gangsters, even the coldest, most unaffected hipster will never grow out of being a mama's boy. Tell your mum, or a friend, or everyone really that you love them today -- just because.

Look. We can't beat around the bush anymore. I avoided reading news stories about Pussy Riot for so long because I assumed they were about exotic dancers going on strike or something...and then I learned that "Pussy Riot" is just the most awkward band name ever. The Russian girl group recently made headlines when they were sentenced to two years in prison for holding a political protest at at an Orthodox church. Now people and performers around the world are expressing their public support for the band and free speech, including Ms. Li.
To sign a petition to free Pussy Riot, check out the action link below. And even if you don't, at least you don't have to feel awkward when you read the band name in headlines any more.
