If Bobby Farrelly is to be believed, the planned "Dumb & Dumber" sequel is still going to happen with Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels as the leads.
We've been hearing conflicting stories about the project over the past few months, but Farrelly seems to have set the record straight in a new interview with Digital Spy. "We will make this movie," he promised, going on to elaborate what the sequel will entail.
The plan, according to Farrelly, is to have the movie shoot in the spring and then be released by next fall. That's a quick turnaround time, but the director said that Carrey and Daniels are both on board with the idea and just want to have fun with it.
Farrelly also opened up about the plot of the film, which we previously knew nothing about.
"The story revolves around the fact that one of them may have sired a child. They want to go and find the child because he's having a kidney problem and he wants to ask him for one of his kidneys," Farrelly explained.
It turns out that Lloyd and Harry haven't changed much since we last saw them in 1994.
"I can tell you that there is no growth out of either one of them and it's 20 years later," Farrelly said. "What is funny about the original is that they're grown men who are complete losers and when the studio came to us about a sequel, we were like, 'Loads of kids are losers and they're dumb.' We didn't see any value in the sequel so we backed out of it, but now these guys are in regular life and they're still basically children at heart."
