The country was in a political mood yesterday, as many tuned in to watch the much anticipated first debate between President Barack Obama and Governor Mitt Romney. While, everyone watched the two discuss their policies, Disney released a new TV spot for Steven Spielberg's "Lincoln," which premieres November 9, a little over a week after Election Day.
The spot was aired on CBS, ABC, and CNN and was perfectly planned with everyone's mind on the Presidency. While, we are not in a war amongst ourselves, there is still great turmoil in this country and Americans are looking for the candidate to lead us out of it.
The "Lincoln" clip shows the former President dealing with similar or even greater turmoil as he tries to keep the country together despite Civil War and the looming abolishment of slavery.
As Obama and Romney battled to win votes, Disney tried to prove that two time Academy Award winner, Daniel Day-Lewis can pull off the larger than life persona of Abraham Lincoln. The clip builds up to Day-Lewis' most powerful line in which he explains that he is, "The President of the United States of America, clothed in immense power!" As the Presidential Election grows closer and becomes more heated, expect more "Lincoln" television spots and hype.
"Lincoln" opens in limited release on November 9.
