The Killers have released the name and artwork for their latest single, "Runaways." The track is the first single from their highly anticipated fifth album, Battle Born, and will be released July 10.
The art consists of a single metal lightning bolt against the backdrop of barren desert, suggesting that the Killers are sticking with the dramatic themes that fans have come to know and love from the Las Vegas rockers.
Battle Born is the first offering from the Killers since 2008's Day and Age. The band had been on hiatus since January 2010, stating they needed some time off after touring and recording for the better part of six years. Recording for Battle Born reportedly began in May 2011, and it is expected to hit stores sometime this fall, though no definitive release date has been announced.
"Runaway" isn't the only song title that we're aware of on Battle Born. Among the 15 recorded tracks, there's "Miss Atomic Bomb," "Heart of a Girl," "Flesh and Bone," "Carry Me Home," "Here With Me," "The Rising Tide," and the title track, "Battle Born."
In June, the Killers teased a trailer for the album, in which they revealed 97 seconds of new music. The preview hints that the Killers will revisit some of the band's more electronic sounds. Check out the trailer here!
