It might be eight more months until "G.I. Joe: Retaliation" hits movie theaters, but that doesn't mean we can't get excited over what the film has in store for us...all over again.
G.I. Joe-Con 2012 just took place in New Orleans, and some interesting concept art has made its way online courtesy of GeneralJoes.com. The site attended a behind-the-scenes look at "Retaliation," where some of the work contributed to the film by Hasbro employee Logan Lubera was put on display. It shows everything from the early designs for Roadblock and Lady Jayne to the weaponry made for the movie, and everything looks pretty darn slick.
The concept art also details some of the many vehicles we'll see in the upcoming "G.I. Joe" movie. The presentation clarified some elements of Jinx's yellow mountain fighting suit, which was designed to not only separate her from the Red Ninjas she's fighting but also as "an homage to Bruce Lee in 'Enter the Dragon."
"Throughout the entirety of the film, their main desire was to bring G.I. Joe back down to Earth," the website writes. "Make it much more gritty and realistic military action film, drawing back the super hero 'shiny armor' elements. Focus much more tightly on quick-paced, character themed action and much less on huge spectacle and special effects."
If you (like us) are feeling the pain of not having a "G.I. Joe" movie come out this summer as we had expected, this concept art is definitely worth a look. It's nice to at least have a sense of how this movie will stylistically differ from its predecessor, "G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra."
