Jared Leto's got fingers and toes crossed that he and his band 30 Seconds to Mars will win big at MTV's European Music Awards, but he's not just Tweeting to ask people to vote. He shared some captivating nature pictures of the world's oldest trees.
Jared (who is also getting pro-social by taking over (RED)'s Twitter page today) Tweeted:

The world's oldest trees can be found in eastern California, nearby the town of Bishop. Bishop's website explains (get ready for this): "These trees were young and growing at the time stone axes were being used in Europe, the Great Pyramid of Khufu (Cheops) was being built, and cuneiform clay tablets were being used in northern Syria." Mind. Blown.

There are trees there that are almost 5,000 years old, and just by looking at them you can tell they're special. And since Jared's big on environmental issues, methinks he might be sharing these pics not just because they're beautiful, but also to encourage people to help take care of the earth. Jared's doing his part by using waste vegetable oil to get his band's bus around, and he's known for calling on his fans to go green with him. When he turned the big 4-0, he also asked his fans to give 71,000 trees to Haiti to help the country.
Jared's waiting to see how the EMAs go, but he's probably also got his fingers and toes crossed that people will want to plant a tree or join an environmental organization after seeing these gorg photos!
