Brad Bird's "Tomorrowland" is close to casting a formidable villain. It's being reported that Hugh Laurie is in talks to play the top-secret project's antagonist.

The Hollywood Reporter has the news about Laurie, though no hints as to who his character is or why he will act as a villain. In fact, very few details are known about the project beyond the fact it used to be called "1952" and is supposed to be similar to "Close Encounters of the Third Kind."

Already cast in the movie is George Clooney, though there aren't any details about who he will play either. "Tomorrowland" was written by Damon Lindelof and Entertainment Weekly's Jeff Jensen, and its plot is being kept a big secret. In a world of "Star Trek Into Darknesses" and "Cloverfields," super secret movies are alright by us.

Even though Laurie is in talks for "Tomorrowland," his casting is far from a guarantee. He had also circled the villain role in "RoboCop," but ultimately turned it down. That part went to Michael Keaton instead.
