There's nothing like sisters bonding over a good deed. Kim, Kourtney and Khloé Kardashian -- all spent yesterday Tweeting about the American Cancer Society.
This issue hits home for the sisters. Almost 10 years ago, their father, Rob Kardashian, died from esophageal cancer, 8 weeks after his diagnosis.
Kim Tweeted:
Help @americancancer #FinishTheFight against cancer. Take the pledge today at cancer.org/fight
— Kim Kardashian (@KimKardashian) May 22, 2013
Kourtney Tweeted the same thing:
Help @americancancer #FinishTheFight against cancer. Take the pledge today at cancer.org/fight
— Kourtney Kardashian (@KourtneyKardash) May 22, 2013
Khloé worded her Tweet a lil bit differently, but got the same point across:
I pledged to help @americancancer #FinishTheFight against cancer in honor of their 100th Birthday. Plege at cancer.org/fight
— KhloéKardashianOdom (@KhloeKardashian) May 22, 2013
If you go back 60 years, one-third of people who were diagnosed with cancer survived. Now people with cancer survive two-thirds of the time. The American Cancer Society has turned 100 years old, and it wants to celebrate this "birthday" of sorts by getting you involved...because all people should be able to survive.
The org has set up three different pledges you can take. The first pledge is to give money, which is pretty self-explanatory. If you're unable to donate, you might be interested in the next pledge. The second option is to learn more about getting enrolled in a study on ways to prevent cancer. The third and final pledge is all about preventing cancer in your own body: exercising, eating well, not smoking and remembering to get screened regularly by your doctor.
When you take the pledge of your choice, Hearst Magazines will donate a dollar to the American Cancer Society (up to $50,000). So whether you're donating or deciding to take more walks, you'll be sending money toward cancer treatments and cures -- which would be a nice 100th birthday gift!
The Society has gotten a lot accomplished so far, but let's hope that we can even more advances in the next 100 years. Take action below to help make it happen.
