HBD, Ian Somerhalder! Ian celebrated his 34rd birthday on Saturday, and he let us know on Twitter that the perf b-day present would be a donation to his Ian Somerhalder Foundation, which helps the earth and everything that lives on it.

Our fave celebrity environmentalist and animal lover Tweeted:

This was actually a double birthday, since ISF was also founded on December 8. Ian's Twitter link takes you to the ISF website, where the birthday boy explains, "I know it sounds simple, but all donations big and small fuel our resources to continue expanding and making change for the voiceless of this planet: our skies, seas, energy, habitats and of course our furry friends." And while the date may have passed, all you Ian fans can still give a belated and much appreciated b-day gift in the form of helping out ISF.

Ian specifically points to the Mozilla Firefox Challenge, which is going on until January 10. ISF and other foundations are seeking donations through crowdfunding, and the foundations that do the best will receive thousands of dollars in grants. Ian explains, "With your support, we could win some amazing funds that will be channeled into some pretty incredible projects and initiatives we have lined up for 2013!"

But there are other ways to help out, too, like getting involved through volunteer work or spreading the ISF message on social media. We all still remember Ian's exclusive MTV Act interview, where he told us about the different ways everyone can get involved with his foundation and his dating dealbreaker (ladies who don't volunteer!) So let's give Ian Somerhalder a great birthday to remember!!
