Last week was pretty groundbreaking as far as "Star Wars VII" goes. Not only did we get a first look at what could potentially be the title of the newest "Star Wars" film, "A New Dawn," but we also heard some more exciting news pertaining to the highly-anticipated "Star Wars" spinoff films!
At a recent Disney press conference, chief financial officer Jay Rasulo referred to the aforementioned spinoffs as "origin stories," confirming the rumor that each "Star Wars" spinoff will be focusing on the individual backstories of characters such as Han Solo, Boba Fett, and Yoda. While this is all extremely exciting, we can't help but wonder what characters from the Star Wars Expanded Universe might be popping up in "Star Wars VII." Take Shimrra Jamaane for example, the Yuuzhan Vong Supreme Overlord.
Who?
Born into the royal family of a violent race of aliens known as the Yuuzhan Vong, Shimrra was destined to become Supreme Overlord since his conception. However, despite being destined for the throne, Shimrra would overthrow the former Supreme Overlord, Quoreal, in order to gain the title sooner as a direct result of being brainwashed by the force sensitive Onimi, the Shamed One.
Under Onimi's influence, Shimrra would abuse his position as Supreme Overlord declaring war on the entire galaxy. Quickly gaining a foothold on Coruscant and renaming the planet Yuuzhan'tar, the Yuuzhan Vong conquer a vast amount of enemy planets sending the New Republic running for the proverbial hills. Throughout the course of the Yuuzhan Vong War, over 360 trillion innocent beings were murdered in cold blood.
Why?
The Yuuzhan Vong are one of the most terrifying things to ever happen to the "Star Wars" galaxy. Never before has a sentient alien race completely decimated an entire way of life, let alone nearly wipe out all of the New Republic. Obviously, if the Yuuzhan Vong were to appear in the new "Star Wars" trilogy, they'd have to be accompanied by their Supreme Overlord, who also just so happens to be killed by a famous Jedi Master named Luke Skywalker.
How?
If something as major as the Yuuzhan Vong War were to take place on the big screen, it would need to be set up perfectly and not seemingly pop up out of nowhere. That being said, perhaps the seeds for said war could be planted in "Star Wars VII" with the actual invasion taking place during either the second or third installments in the new "Star Wars" trilogy. Maybe Shimrra Jamaane could even be seen personally conquering Coruscant in "Star Wars VIII," with the duel between the Supreme Overlord and Luke Skywalker taking place during "Star Wars IX."
