We've laughed, and loved, and cried with this year's Emmy nominees. Here's how our fave actors are making us smile, off-camera.
+ Kerry Washington: Lead Actress In A Drama Series

We applaud Kerry Washington's Emmy nom, but more importantly, we applaud her strong, on and off-camera persona. In spite of her "Scandal"-filled life, Kerry's character Olivia Pope is one of the first of its kind on television: A strong, Black woman who is absolutely killin' the political game...while trying not to get killed. In her off-screen life, Washington is proud to stand up for what she believes in. She has tweeted about LGBTQ rights in Russia, as well as the 50th anniversary of The March On Washington.
+ Lena Dunham: Lead Actress In A Comedy Series

It comes as no surprise that Lena Dunham was nominated for Best Lead Actress In A Comedy Series for her role on HBO's "Girls." When it comes to "Girls," Lena leads by example to help promote positive body image and self esteem. She has joked about not owning a scale, and given mad props to designers who don't think that "women size 4 and up belong in a belted sack." Needless to say, we love Lena and think she deserves all the awards ever.
+ Jesse Tyler Ferguson: Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Comedy Series

"Modern Family" actor Jesse Tyler Ferguson is nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Comedy Series; he is also an outstanding supporter of the gay community whose bow tie charity, Tie The Knot, donates 100% of sales to organizations that support LGBTQ rights and marriage equality. He founded the org with his hubby Justin Mikita.
+ Matt Damon: Outstanding Lead Actor In A Miniseries Or Movie

Matt Damon is nominated for his role of Scott Thorson in "Behind The Candelabra"...which I first read as, "Behind The Candle Bra." When he's not hiding behind candle bras, Matt Damon is trying to solve the world's water crisis through his charity Water.org. 780 million people in the world live without access to clean drinking water.
+ Ryan Seacrest: Outstanding Host For A Reality Or Reality-Competition Program

Is there anything Ryan Seacrest doesn't do, besides sleep? The hardworking T.V. and radio host is nominated for his work on American Idol, but his dedication to the Ryan Seacrest Foundation is what makes him a real winner. His namesake org is dedicated to inspiring youth through art and education. Its Seacrest Studios initiative builds radio stations in pediatric hospitals, where kids can host their own shows and interview their fave "American Idols."
